BBC Worldwide has signed a deal with Apple to make BBC shows available as downloads on the UK iTunes store.
Around 10 series will initially be made available, including Torchwood, Life on Mars and Little Britain, priced at £1.89 an episode. They can then be viewed on a PC or Mac, an iPod or iPhone, or over Apple TV. More recent programmes such as Ashes to Ashes will be made available to buy on iTunes after they complete their run on the BBC iPlayer VoD service.
UPDATE: In a seperate announcement, the BBC has revealed that its iPlayer VoD software will be made available on Apple's iPod Touch and iPhone in the next few weeks. The Corporation has also signed content deals with Yahoo!, MSN and Blinkx, and will add video channels to the sites, similar to its existing channels on YouTube and Bebo.
