Here I have tried to provide you each manufacturers model name with its special features. To get information about buying you can consider the DirecTV Buying Guide.

FCC (federal communication commission) Part 15 Rules

According to the FCC part 15 the devices are considered class B if they are designed to protect the user from harmful interference during operation in residential areas. There fore all the Direct TV receiver systems must be installed professionally or according to the instructions provided in the user’s manuals associated with each receiver otherwise the radio frequency that these devices use can b e radiated and cause harmful interference. Moreover if you have done the installation exactly according to the instruction manual and still having interference you can always
  • Consult the dealer
  • Call the technician
  • Adjust the antenna change the switching
  • Or place the equipment away from each other.

FCC (federal communication commission) Part 68 Rules

FCC part 68 is concerned with the telephone connection through receiver. The products under this part contains FCC registration code and RENs (ringer equivalent numbers) which determines the number of devices connected to the phone line and can be provided to the phone companies as well. A telephone cord and modular plug according to the FCC compliance is provided and if any problem occurs in the phone network then the company has every right to disallow the connection through receiver until that problem is fixed.

Macrovision Restrictions

The receivers follow the restriction applied by the Macrovision. For example for complete HD-local channels off-air antenna is required otherwise receiver blocks the programming according to Macrovison or without multisatellite dish antenna, even a Direct TV HDTV receiver does not provide HD programming.
