UKTV's channels will be switching over to widescreen from 31st January 2008, according to a spokesperson for the company.
All UKTV channels will have 16:9 capability from 31st January, with programmes airing in widescreen as they become available. BBC and other archive programming will be bought in by UKT in 16:9 format, while UKTV intends to commission its own original programming in widescreen format, cost permitting.
