The BBC iPlayer has been a huge success since its Christmas relaunch becoming the 80th most visited website in the UK in the space of a month,
Visitor numbers increased 14 fold in the weeks between December 8th and January 5 according to research from Hitwise .
The online catch up service was heavily promoted over the Christmas period with the Doctor Who Christmas Special and Eastenders proving especially popular with viewers.
'The average visitor time for iPlayer is 'just under nine minutes' said Robin Goad, director of research at Hitwise UK. Presumably they didn't like Doctor Who all that much then.
