Direct TV Receiver manufactured by direct TV Inc. Provides the digital programming on subscription with Direct TV service providers. Direct TV Receiver also supports cable or off-air antenna.
Direct TV Receiver Features
Info Banner
Press info twice from remote or front panel. This displays info banner. The banner shows information about current program. This includes channel number, program description, ratings, program title and starts/end timings with date. Also displays the special feature when available. Such as pay per view or favorite channels list.
Favorite Channels
In preferences option from main menu select "set favorite channels. This option allows you to remove unwanted channels from your program guide. Also allow you to create your own defined channels lists. Once you have created a list, the info banner indicates it. You can always customize the lists.
Direct TV Advanced Program Guide
Select guide from main menu, remote or front panel. This takes you to Direct TV advanced program guide. Guide keeps you up to date with next three and half days programming. Programs are displayed with channel numbers, titles and timings.
When you select a program a brief description about program comes at top. A channel bar indicates the position of channel. A channel list contains number of channels. Clock shows the program progress. Arrows to brows through channels. Channel banner also appears on selecting a program.
Three options are available at the bottom. Help, search and View. Help provides all the information you need about a selected program. Search allows you to search the guide by category, title, actor or director names. The view allows options as jump to a time, time reminder and pay per view.
Pay Per View
Pay per view programs are indicated in the banner with "$" sign. You can preview a pay per view program. Purchase currently running pay per view program. You can also schedule or cancel a schedule upcoming pay per view program.
To purchase a pay per view program, just select a highlighted program. "Buy" option will appear. Just select buy and it'll give its price and other information.
Main Menu
Select menu from remote or front panel. It'll take you to main menu screen. The menu shows following options. Guide, preferences, parental controls, purchases, setup, system upgrades, messages and caller ID.
Preferences
Under preferences you have option to change audio language for a program when available with preferred language option. Screen format option allows you to adjust the screen. With banner duration you can set banner display time. Also available Creating and editing a favorite channel list and changing the remote control Id options.
Parental Control
Parental control provides three sorts of restrictions. With channel locks you can block complete channels. With rating limits you can restrict specific rated programs. Spending limits allows you to set spending limit on one purchased pay per view program. More over replace access card option is also here.
Direct TV Receiver Setup
Setup menu guides you setup/install your Direct TV Receiver. Use zip code, Dish configuration, point dish and systems test to configure your setup.
System Upgrades
Direct TV Receiver is always ready to receive upgrades from direct TV service providers. With this option you can configure the upgrades. You can install upgrades automatically. You can also postpone received upgrades and install them manually.
Messages
With the reception of any new message new incoming message icon appears. You can read and delete the message. An old message is automatically deleted if the limit exceeds. It can keep maximum thirty messages.
Caller ID
Your Direct TV Receiver has to be connected to phone line for some services like pay per view. To do this you have to subscribe with caller ID service from phone service provider. This done by caller ID option in main menu.
