Both the direct tv receivers have common features and support Direct TV and USSB Programming and Services. The products are manufactured under FCC rule 15 and 68 and obeys macrovison restrictions such as HDTV programming is not available.

Direct TV Receiver Features

Program guide:

The direct tv receivers provide its users a user-friendly on-screen program guide. The guide is available in three formats in the main menu that is the grid guide, channel guide and attraction guide. Grid guide displays the information like in a newspaper time and channel of the programs. Channel guide shows programs information channel by channel per page. Attraction guide keeps you informed about upcoming programs and special events. Six buttons are available to search, sort and filter the grid guide. “Down arrow” scrolls down the pages, “movies” displays the list of movie categories such as comedy, action, thriller, etc. “sports” displays the list of all types of sporting events like succor, hockey or baseball. “Other” button allows you to create your own theme. “All” button displays the list of all viewable channels and “sort” button allows you to filtering options like display the movies that are only romantic.

List & Limit:

List and limit feature of the direct tv receiver allows you to restrict programming by providing options like rating limit and spending limit. By rating limit you can set the limit up to that the programming is viewable other wise is blocked. Spending limit defines the total viewable time for the program such as time limit for pay-per-view programs. Moreover you can also create four your favorite channels lists and access through fav-input button.

Pay-per-view:

Pay per view feature is available with so much ease and is available in program guide and attraction guide. Buy program option allows you to buy the program.

Purchases:

Purchases feature list the programs you have bought so far along with cost, date, time, title and channel information and also provides you options to buy new programs. Moreover you can cancel the scheduled purchase.

Mail Box:

The mailbox can receive 2000 characters at a time form the service providers such as Direct TV can send you a message about up grading or new services.

Audio:

You can change the audio setup to enjoy other language programs when available.

Upgrading:

The on-screen display of “new access card setup” allows you to upgrade your access card, when available, with so much ease.

Moreover if you need any sort of help you can find it in features as help menu, help button and auto help within the main menu.

The receiver packages contain receiver, IR remote control that can be programmed to control other devices as well and cables, jacks and connectors for making connections among receiver, TV and other devices. On the whole the back and front end are clearly written what to do but if you still having confusion, you can always get help from user’s manual provided to you along with the receiver.
