ITV's broadband catch-up and on-demand video archive service will launch in May.

Viewers will be able to catch up on key ITV shows such as Coronation Street for up to 30 days after broadcast, and watch ITV channels live on the internet.

There will also be an archive of around 1,000 hours of classic ITV shows, and the whole service will be funded by advertising so there are no extra charges.

ITV on-demand was due to launch at the end of March, but it will now join Channel 4's 4oD as the second public service broadcaster with an ad-funded on-demand service, with the MyBBCplayer due to launch this summer when it wins approval from the BBC Trust.

Media Week reports that the ad-funded model is already being backed by major brands like Sony and Vodafone.
