PC, Mac and Linux users will all be able to access the BBC iPlayer at home and from thousands of WiFi hotspots next year when it adds a streaming video service. The iPlayer library holds shows from the past seven days, but they're currently only available for download on Windows XP PCs. The new service will be available free through 7,500 UK hotspots operated by The Cloud, or via any other boradband connection. The BBC will also be making Flash its standard video and audio player across all of bbc.co.uk, including its radio player, which currently uses Realplayer. |
